Legal Advice from your Notary Public

Unless you are an attorney (Southland Mobile Notary is NOT an attorney), notary public services are strictly prohibited by law from assisting with questions dealing with legal matters and/or giving legal advice.  It can not be emphasized enough that in order to complete the notarization process in a timely and efficient manner that any questions concerning the specifics of your particular document be answered by your attorney before the notarization ceremony.

One very common question that arises is whether to use an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT CERTIFICATE or a JURAT CERTIFICATION to complete your notarization. In the majority of the cases, it is clear, but it is also very common to find documents where it is not specifically spelled out.  In this case, your notary public will request that you (the signer) make the decision or advise you to simply clarify this with your attorney or the party that is requiring the notarized signature
